Not exactly, but it may help. A durable power of attorney allows you to make financial and legal decisions for your uncle, but not health care or personal decisions. This means that you could sign a contract with a nursing home on your uncle’s behalf and use is funds to pay the fees.
But the power of attorney does not give you the right to determine where your uncle will live. You may have this power under a health care proxy or durable power of attorney for health care, but that’s something of a gray area since residence and medical decisions are not exactly the same thing.
